![]() Any help and guidance gratefully received. Is this an easy task involving a simple download All searches on the internet come up with HEVC Codec downloads, which already exist on my laptop. Moreover, in some cases, the installation doesn’t happen automatically so you can use the links to download it for free. On contacting the GoPro community, apparently the solution to my problem is a HEVC Hardware Decoder and suggested that I contact either Microsoft or Dell. However, this was added in v1809 so it won’t install codec automatically on previous versions of Windows 10. The x265 codec is distributed under two licenses: GPLv2 or a commercial license. In order for you to play the HEVC video smoothly you should really consider to install the proper codec to your computer to make it up and running for you. To Microsoft’s credit, they did add it back as an add-on which installs when you check for updates after booting the system for the first time. GoPro has been working on 360 technologies for several years, and is well aware that 4K resolution. Both the links will direct you to the Microsoft Store and you can download the codec for free. With the upcoming GoPro Fusion, the included desktop utilities will enable 5.2K workflows via the CineForm codec, already bundled with Adobe Creative Cloud products for a streamlined super-high-resolution workflow. To install the codec, follow this link to download HEVC Video Extension and follow this link to download HEIF Image Extension. Microsoft hid another version of the HEVC codec on the Microsoft Store and it was for device manufacturers to install the codec on their desktops and laptops before shipping them out to customers. While the codec costs only $0.99, there’s a way to get it for free. Later, for some reasons, Microsoft decided to remove HEVC codec from Windows 10 and opening a file with HEVC directed users to a paid version of HEVC provided by Microsoft. Earlier MKV and HEVC codec required a 3rd party media player like VLC to work but Microsoft added the support for both when they launched Windows 10. HEVC or High Efficiency Video Coding is a popular codec used by companies around the world.

SU2 is based on unstructured mesh technology, and thus supports several element types for both 2D and 3D elements. The next part of the file describes the interior element connectivity, which begins with the NELEM= keyword: Therefore, the location of each node in the list above can be confirmed in space by adding 1 to the implied global index from the ordering and comparing with the figure above. For example, the point (0.0,0.0), the first in the list given in the mesh file, will carry global index 0, the point (0.5,0.0) carries global index 1, and so on. ![]() The global index numbering of the nodes is implicit in the order they are given in the file. The global index values for the nodes and elements stored within SU2 are zero-based, as opposed to starting from 1 as Tecplot does. This global element index is implied by the ordering and does not need to be explicitly specified by the file, although some legacy meshes may still contain an explicit index at the end of the line that can be ignored.įor a 2D mesh, only x and y coordinates are required, but a 3D mesh would give x, y, and z coordinates. The grid points are assigned a global element index of 0 through 8 in the order they appear in the file. Each line gives the coordinates for a single grid vertex. Immediately after the node number specification comes the list of node coordinates in cartesian space. ![]() In this case, there are 9 nodes in the 3x3 square above. For the 2D square mesh, the dimension is defined as follows: As a note, for 2D simulations, it is recommended that a truly 2D mesh is used (no z-coordinates) rather than a quasi-2D mesh (one or more cells deep in the third dimension with symmetry boundary conditions). su2 mesh declares the dimensionality of the problem. The node and element numbering for SU2 start at 0. Square Mesh Example: Note that the figure uses Tecplot node and element number (1-based). SpecificationĬonsider the following simple, 2D mesh for a square domain consisting of 8 triangular elements. Lastly, the boundaries of the mesh, or markers, are given names, or tags, and their connectivity is specified in a similar manner as the interior nodes. The connectivity description provides information about the types of elements (triangle, rectangle, tetrahedron, hexahedron, etc.) that make up the volumes in the mesh and also which nodes make up each of those elements. As an unstructured code, SU2 requires information about both the node locations as well as their connectivity. su2, and the files are in a readable ASCII format. The SU2 mesh format carries an extension of. A description of the mesh and some examples are below. The format is meant to be simple and readable. In keeping with the open-source nature of the project, SU2 features its own native mesh format. Details on how to create and use these mesh formats is given below. A converter from CGNS to the native format is also built into SU2. CGNS support can be useful when it is necessary to create complex geometries in a third-party mesh generation package that can export CGNS files. Support for the CGNS data format has also been included as an input mesh format. The gmsh input is shown below and this is the first text to put into the structured_ex.geo file.SU2 mainly uses a native mesh file format as input into the various suite components. ![]() To create the square, four points are speficied and these are connected by four lines. For this tutorial, a square shape is first created. The shape to be meshed will be created by specifying points and then connecting these points with lines. The first step in creating a mesh is to create some shape that will be meshed. With several filters, you can easily access the file within seconds. Good luck to anyone who attempts an SDL2 Spine extension, and hopefully this info is at least a little useful at getting started, and thanks to everyone for the convo and info. So while in theory it might be possible, I think it's a bit above my skill level, and instead I think I'll have to look at other solutions for 2d skeletal animation. ![]() If the guy who's responsible for maintaining SDL2_gfx someday switches things up to use textures as opposed to surfaces, then I would have the ability and interest in doing it (I suppose I could just fork his code to make that happen, but I suspect that again there would be some math involved there that would be a bit tricky). Long story short, I just don't think I'm going to be able to pull it off given the current state of SDL2 and the SDL2_gfx library. Conversely, I'm sure someone who's better at math than I am could probably write some code to covert the skeleton vertexes to rotation angle/anchor points, although I'd guess that would be a mighty bottle necking calculation. SDL2 does allow for rendering rotated textures, so if rotational/anchor point data was used for the textures displayed at sockets, it could be done. For myself, I have gone the way of hardware accelerated textures in my game engine, which would mean that I would have to rewrite my rendering itself in order to build the Spine extension, and in so doing I would be essentially reverting to a less efficient rendering method. ![]() So in theory, one could use the sdl_gfx library to accomplish a Spine SDL extension, but only by using the old-school surface blitting rendering method. There is actually an SDL library called sdl_gfx that grants that functionality, but unfortunately the function that facilitates that only takes SDL_Surface pointers to represent the texture itself, and as some of you may know with SDL2, there is now a hardware-accelerated version of surfaces called "textures" that is sort of replacing surfaces. SDL unfortunately lacks a critical function that would make it relatively straightforward to duplicate the SFML extension functionality: namely, the ability to render textured polygons. Well, I have some bad news after poking around with everything this weekend and trying to see if I could figure out a solution. Granted, the GUI interface for Spine is nice and all, but for something I'd spend a good chunk of short-term money, and potentially a much larger chunk of long-term money for, I'd kind of want it to work "out of the box" so-to-speak. Side note (the only other issue stopping me from deciding to use Spine) As it is now, paying $60 for a license to a piece of software that I know I'm going to have to potentially write a substantial amount of code to bridge into my project seems like it might be a waste of time when writing my own tool from scratch may be a more practical option. Just seems odd, given the amount of runtime libraries provided, that there isn't one already for SDL. As I have some familiarly with libgdx, I looked at that implementation of SkeletonRenderer in the GitHub repo, and that seems to be essentially what the respective Java class in that implementation does.Īre these the only two major steps it would take to using a Spine skeleton in pure C++/SDL?Īnd if anyone has already done any of this and would be willing to lend me a hand, I'd be much appreciated. Write a custom SkeletonRenderer class that would essentially loop through all skeletal slots and get the texture from the region of the atlas as required, at which point I could render the texture to an SDL_Renderer object inside the pipeline of my game. Dispose texture would free the texture, and the readFile function.well, not sure what it does, really, as in the included example it just returns a character pointer from some other likely macroed function that's defined somewhere else. With SDL, I'm guessing that the createTexture function would require that somehow I would have to create an SDL_Texture to somehow associate with the AtlasPage "object" (struct). Implement the "extension" functions as indicated in the extension.h include, namely the _spAtlasPage_createTexture, _spAtlasPage_disposeTexture and _spUtil_readFile functions. These are the things I believe I would have to do: I'm wondering if anyone who is able can check my head as to whether or not I'm beginning to understand this properly. Update After attempting to read through the C runtime on Github, I believe I am starting to wrap my mind around how I would need to go about implementing Spine in raw C++/SDL2. ![]() Although there are a variety of free download managers available online, none of them can match the features and functionality of this software.Orbit is a very nice download manager that has evolved a lot over a short period of time. Why we don’t recommend a traditional antivirus suite For guidance, check out our full guide to setting up all these security layers. You should avoid downloading and opening email attachments unless you know what they are. You need to be mindful of what you download and to download software only from official sources, such as the Microsoft App Store and Apple Mac App Store, whenever possible. You also need secure passwords, two-factor logins, data encryption, systemwide backups, automatic software updates, and smart privacy tools added to your browser. No antivirus tool, paid or free, can catch every malicious bit of software that arrives on your computer. Over the years, we’ve also spoken with security experts, IT professionals, and the information security team of The New York Times (Wirecutter’s parent company) to filter out the noise of the typical antivirus table-tennis headlines: Antivirus is increasingly useless, no, actually it’s still pretty handy, no, antivirus is unnecessary, wait, no, it isn’t, and so on.Īlthough in any category we usually test all the products we’re considering, we can’t test the performance of antivirus suites any better than the experts at independent test labs already do, so we relied on their expertise.īut ultimately, relying on any one app to protect your system, data, and privacy is a bad bet, especially when almost every antivirus app has proven vulnerable on occasion. We also read up on the viruses, ransomware, spyware, and other malware of recent years to learn what threats try to get onto most people’s computers today. We spent dozens of hours reading results from independent labs like AV-Test and AV-Comparatives, feature articles from many publications such as Ars Technica and PCMag, and white papers and releases from institutions and groups like Usenix and Google’s Project Zero. Windows Defender, Microsoft’s built-in tool, is good enough for most people. The “best antivirus” for most people to buy, it turns out, is nothing.
